Getting the most out of your business card

January 17, 2012

Business Cards are one of the most inexpensive and versatile tools in your marketing arsenal. Often, your business card is the first impression you leave with a customer or prospect – so make it a worthy one. Make sure your business cards mention your company name, logo, location, contact info, specialty services or anything else that will help distinguish you from your competition. Possibly a link to your LinkedIn profile or something that entices each recipient to get in touch with you.

Using your business card as an icebreaker and knowing what to do and say in the right places will help build confidence and open lines of communication. The design should be professional and draw the eyes to key elements on the card. Keep the design consistent with the look and feel of other marketing materials, such as brochures, letterheads or envelopes. Most importantly you need to carry them on you at all times. Keep your business cards in your wallet, purse, car or any place where you might run into an opportunity to promote yourself or company. With how inexpensive business cards are, there is no excuse to be stingy with them and not try and get them into as many hands as possible.

Your business card says a lot about you and your company. Take for example “free” business cards from companies like Vista Print. This is an amazing marketing tactic for Vista Print, but not so much for you. Think about it; you are handing a client or prospect a business card that says “Printed by Vista Print” on the back with a template-based design. Your most likely trying to get this client or prospect to spend money with your company, yet this “free” card communicates that you are not willing to invest or spend money on yourself or your company. So why would someone invest in you and trust you when it appears you do not care enough about yourself or company to invest minimal dollars in a professionally designed and printed business card? A “free” card does not scream confidence, it does not communicate “do business with me, you can trust me!” It communicates, “I did not want to spend money on my company, but will you spend money on my company?” Not a great starting point for a sale…

Let Pinpoint Promotions & Printing help you get the right message across with a professionally designed and printed business card. A business card that communicates confidence, trust and will enable you to secure more customers and revenue.
